Measurement background

The metrics used for the measurement are based on multithreaded and parallel downloads – using XHR (XMLHttpRequest) JavaScript Web API objects – and the measurement itself takes a few seconds. Bandwidth and average throughput parameters are calculated from the link characteristics during this time. The latency is calculated from the results of several small, offloaded requests, also measured for traffic over SSL/TLS. The characteristics associated with the last measurement are always displayed and may change from time to time.
